Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words I wrote this blog post a while back, so I don’t remember the name of the book I got these words from.. but here they are anyways! :)

Lyre-back
(adj.)
Definition: similar design of a lyre shape
Usage: “…Furnished with lyre-back chairs, delicate sofas, and a spinet.”

Modiste
(n.)
Definition: one that produces, designs, or deals in women's fashions.
Usage: “…Aunt Charlotte and the modiste went into raptures over Georgina.”

Odious
(adj.)
Definition: offensive; repugnant
Usage: “I was sure she would be odious…”

Ensconced
(v.)
Definition: to settle (oneself) securely or comfortably
Usage: “Lady Tarleton and Dorothea were already ensconced in the drawing room.”
