It’s raining. And has been for most of the day. I’m also hungry. It’s 3:43 (Arizona time) and I haven’t eaten a meal since breakfast. AND my head feels as if it is going to blow up. Despite all these wonderful circumstances, we’ve actually had a fairly pleasant day. :)
Dad and I got up early this morning (well, about 8:00 AL time, but 6:00 AZ time) and scouted out Flagstaff, AR for a large statue of Paul Bunyan (not to be confused with John Bunyan, the author of Pilgrim’s Progress). Needless to say, we found it in front of Northern Arizona University (summer home of the Arizona Cardinals pro-football team, we found out).
We then drove to the Grand Canyon. Cloudy skies loomed overhead, so we quickly got our park pass and drove up to the canyon. The view was breath-taking. I’ve never seen anything quite like it before.
Then, the clouds rolled in. And it started to rain. We drove back to the visitor’s center and watched the imax movie on the history of the Grand Canyon (which may have been what aggravated my headache.. hm).
We’ve been roaming the countryside on the way to Bryce Canyon. I still can’t believe the lack of restaurants. ha. :) Poor Mom is quite scared of all these heights… I’m glad I take after Dad in that characteristic – heights don’t bother me in the least!
We haven’t seen too many animals.. a coyote and lizards yesterday, and a moose, a squirrel, and lots of birds today. :)
Well, I’ll quit boring you with the same old pictures for now.. :P But, here are just a couple of my favorite shots of the day (not counting the birdie in the tree one above)
Happy Sunday!
God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it.
