Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words I finally finished “My Ántonia.” Probably my favorite book I’ve read this school year. Simple, easy to follow, not depressing, lively… you get the picture. I vaguely knew these following words, but I wanted to double-check their meanings. :)

In-ci-vil-i-ty
(n.)
Definition
: lack of civility or courtesy; rudeness.
Usage: “And said that he would have him discharged for incivility.”

Dis-ap-pro-ba-tion
(n.)
Definition
: moral or social disapproval.
Usage: “Disapprobation hurt me, I found.”

Cham-pi-on
(v.)
Definition
: to defy or challenge.
Usage: “..I continued to champion Antonia.” 
~My Ántonia


Con-spic-u-ous
(adj.)
Definition
: clearly visible; obvious or showy.
Usage: “ …and made them conspicuous among Black Hawk women.”
