As we’ve been staying with my grandmother two nights a week since my grandfather passed away a 3 weeks ago, I decided to do a tribute to their lovely house.
1. Homey feeling
There is just something about Grandma’s house that is homey to everyone. Everything seems so familiar, so cozy. It’s definitely a home away from home.
2. Comfy Beds
Ever since I was little, the beds at Nana and Granddaddy’s house have been comfortable. I would always go to sleep almost instantly. Possibly it was because I always stayed up later than normal here, but I think it was the beds. Even to this day, their beds are some of the most comfortable ones I’ve ever slept on.
3. Food
You can’t go to Grandma’s house without food being there. Although sometimes Dad and I have to go and restock the fridge and pantry, there is never a lack of sweets here. :)
4. Laughter
With a forgetful grandmother on hand, you’re in for several laughs here and there. Things aren’t always funny at the moment, but going back and thinking about the day certainly brings a smile to my face. :)
5. Memories
Memories flood this house. I can almost still see the giggly children gliding down the hall on their socks... Hear the two little girls laughing over the crackling bowl Rice Krispies before bed... It’s almost as if I can still feel my grandmother from of old sitting on the edge of our bed before the two children fall asleep, singing the ice cream song and telling us stories from her childhood…
Some things will never be the same, but I will always treasure the memories and moments from this house (and the family in it). <3
