My life has been especially crazy this week with us practically living over at my grandparents house. Here are a few words I learned in my history book.

Beleaguered
(adj.)
Definition: harrassed, plagued.
Usage: “In 1869, the beleaguered pope called the First Vatican Council.”
Resurgence
(n.)
Definition: a continuing after interruption; a renewal.
Usage: “The new pope, Pius IX, supported the ‘resurgence.’”
Prelates
(n.)
Definition: a high-ranking member of the clergy, especially a bishop.
Usage: “From the Vatican he exerted more authority than even the most powerful prelates of the Middle Ages.”
Pervade
(v.)
Definition: to be present throughout
Usage: “They prayed that a spirit of missions would pervade the conference.”
